Cybersecurity evaluation

Connected autonomous vehicles, AGV's,  AMR's,  Drones with remote SW-upload,  constantly communicating (V2X) represent a great opportunity, at the same time an equally great risk.  The tackling of cybersecurity vulnerabilities is foreseen globally  (EU  2018/58,  ISO/SAE 21434,  etc). We evaluate deeply the related cybersecurity aspects.

Drones are increasingly utilized for military, surveillance, or traffic control purposes. At the same time, the use of AI in cars is rapidly becoming a new standard. But as with any new technology, any serious vulnerability assessment must ask, can my autonomous vehicles be used against their owner?

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are present in various environments, from military operations to domestic enjoyment. These vehicles are incredible assets, but just as their pilot can control them remotely, cyber-attacks can be executed with similar ease.

Cyber-attacks on UAVs can bring a plethora of issues. Such malfunctions allow the attacker to steal data and incapacitate or hijack the UAV. In order to avoid these maneuvers, it is necessary to identify and patch vulnerabilities that may be maliciously exploited.

How about cars, then? Recent years brought an increasing number of cyberattacks on cars as hackers tap into advanced technologies. The frequency of cyberattacks on cars saw a more than twofold increase from 2018 to 2021, and nearly half the attacks targeted back-end servers. The automotive industry is projected to lose $505 billion by 2024 to cyberattacks.

As more devices become integrated with local networks, the importance of understanding the proper and efficient ways to secure internet of things (IoT) devices greatens. Thus, Qtics can help developers by ensuring their products live up to the defining security standards and regulations in the field of drones and mobility.

By complying with the prEN4709-002 Aerospace series - Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Part 002: Direct Remote identification, and prEN4709-003 - Aerospace series - Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Part 003: Geo-awareness requirements, we are authorized to carry out certification tests with pre-agreed functional tests, while according to the ISO 15408 Common Criteria, we carry out Information security assessment up to EAL5 level.
